The Dementia Series: Mixed Dementia

This one is simple. Mixed Dementia occurs when someone has two or more types of dementia. Symptoms, risk factors, prognosis, and treatment would be relevant to the diseases causing dementia.


Common types of mixed dementia:

Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia (most common)

Alzheimer's and Frontotemporal Dementia

Alzheimer's and Lewy Body Dementia

Vascular Dementia and Lewy Body Dementia


A pharmacist handles medications.
High blood pressure and stroke can lead to vascular dementia and mixed dementia.
